The end of 2018 and the start of 2019 was hectic, to say the least. BUT – all things happen for a good reason and the reason right this time was – my Health Coach studies and an exam.
Now I’m officially an American Council on Exercise certified Health Coach. These studies showed me so much and just confirmed that health is not just eating good and staying active. Most of our blocks, the resistance and problems come from other places and sources. It’s not that we don’t know what to do, it’s finding a way to get things done with our schedules being as hectic as they are. And that’s where Health coaches (and all sorts of coaches, really) come into play.
What is a health coach?
Basically, it’s a professional who is educated in fitness, nutrition, mentoring and most common health problems, to help the client get as healthy as possible. When you go to see your doctor, you usually have about 15 minutes with them. The doctor asks you what the problem is, you tell them the symptoms and they give you medicine to alleviate any current pains and aches. BUT it doesn’t solve the root problem. And that’s where Health Coaches can come in handy. We look at the person as a whole – what do you eat, how do you sleep, how are you managing your time and stress levels? And with all that information, a Health Coach can help a client to solve at least some of the health issues they might have. A health coach can help to guide you in the right direction so you can be more happy, more healthy and more productive in whatever you want to do.
